Bio

Nicholas O’Neill, DO, is a dedicated, board-certified orthopedic surgeon who joined Essentia Health for its strong commitment to patient-centered care and its collaborative culture. Dr. O’Neill was particularly impressed by the organization's vision for orthopedics in the Fargo and western Minnesota regions, where he saw an opportunity to expand access to high-quality total joint care.

Although he did not grow up in the area, Dr. O’Neill and his wife were drawn to Fargo, ND, for its values, pace, and culture, making it an ideal place to raise their four energetic children. His passion for orthopedic surgery stemmed from the ability to restore mobility and improve quality of life through total joint replacement. He is particularly interested in using robotic technology to enhance precision in hip and knee replacements and specializes in bikini incision, minimally invasive anterior hip replacements.

Dr. O’Neill believes in treating every patient as if they were family, emphasizing clear communication and shared decision-making. Outside of his professional life, he enjoys spending time with his family, staying active, cooking, and reading. He is also passionate about personal development and supporting his family amidst a busy life.
