Bio

Jacob Wilcox, MD, is a dedicated family medicine physician at Essentia Health. Originally from Hugo, Minnesota, he developed a deep connection to Duluth, MN, during his undergraduate studies at the University of Minnesota Duluth. Captivated by the city’s charm and its welcoming community, he returned to complete his residency at the Duluth Family Medicine Residency Program. During this time, he built strong relationships with the Essentia Health team, which inspired him to establish his practice there.

Dr. Wilcox chose family medicine because of his passion for forming lasting relationships with patients and supporting them through all stages of life. He values the opportunity to address both everyday health concerns and significant medical challenges. His special areas of interest include chronic disease management, diabetes care, ultrasound-guided procedures, musculoskeletal and joint injections, vasectomies, behavioral and mental health, substance use treatment, and contraceptive management.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Wilcox enjoys an active lifestyle. He is an avid downhill and cross-country skier and has a creative side expressed through woodworking and wood carving. He and his wife, who is also a family physician, share their home with their beloved yellow Labrador, Tonka.
