Hana Main, MD

Dr. Hana Main, MD, has been caring for patients at Essentia since 2021. She grew up in Bemidji, Minnesota, near the Iron Range, and feels a strong connection to northern Minnesota communities.

Dr. Main attended the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, where she studied Genetics and Cell Biology. After college, she served for two years in the Peace Corps in Belize. There, she worked with the Ministry of Education to help train teachers in sexual and reproductive health education and partnered with Girls Leading Our World to organize leadership camps for girls across the country.

She earned her medical degree from the University of Minnesota in Duluth and completed her family medicine residency in Anchorage, Alaska. Dr. Main then completed her fellowship in advanced obstetrics at Swedish Medical Center in Seattle, where she gained experience caring for high-risk pregnancies and performing C-sections.

Dr. Main enjoys caring for family medicine patients and has special interests in pregnancy care, delivering babies, pediatric care, and providing gender-affirming care. She values building lasting relationships with patients and supporting families through every stage of life.

Outside of work, she enjoys traveling, gardening, cooking, and spending time outdoors with her family.
