Ablation Procedures

Relieve your abnormal or heavy vaginal bleeding with an endometrial ablation procedure. Many procedures don't require an incision. At some Essentia locations you’ll find office-based ablation treatments, such as:

• NovaSure® – Uses electric current to remove the lining of your uterus
• Hydrothermal – Circulates heated fluid inside your uterus to remove the lining
• Rollerball ablation – Destroys the lining of the uterus using a ball-shaped electrode

Essentia Health-Fargo offers a minimally invasive surgery called the Acessa® procedure to shrink uterine fibroids. Uterine fibroids are common, noncancerous growths that can cause heavy or long periods, pelvic pain or pressure, frequent urination, pain during sex, and bloating.

The Acessa® procedure is done through small cuts in the abdomen and uses heat to shrink uterine fibroids. It may be a good option if hormone treatment has not helped and you want a faster recovery. Most patients feel better as their fibroids shrink and can return to work in 4-5 days.
