Shawnna Johnson, APRN,CNP

Shawnna Johnson is a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner with more than 20 years of experience caring for newborns, children, teens, and their families. At Essentia Health, she is known for providing thoughtful, compassionate care and helping families feel informed, supported, and confident in their child’s care.

Shawnna earned her nursing degree from Central Lakes College, completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at The College of St. Scholastica, and received her Master of Nursing from Maryville University, where she specialized as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. She also maintains certifications in Basic Cardiac Life Support, Neonatal Resuscitation, and Pediatric Advanced Life Support.

Since joining Essentia Health in 2000, Shawnna has cared for patients in a variety of settings, including obstetrics and pediatrics at Essentia Health St. Joseph’s Medical Center. Her background includes caring for mothers and newborns during labor, delivery, and recovery, as well as supporting infants, children, and teens with a wide range of health needs.

At Essentia Health Pediatrics, Shawnna cares for patients in both clinic and hospital settings. She works closely with families and care teams to create personalized treatment plans, provide preventive care, and answer questions along the way. Her goal is to help every child feel cared for and every family feel heard and supported.
