Markus Erb, MD

Markus Erb, MD, is a dedicated pediatric cardiologist who joined Essentia Health, drawn by the opportunity to experience life in the Northwest and embrace a less hectic lifestyle. Having spent most of his life on the East Coast, he was eager for a change of scenery and inspired by the region’s reputation for its welcoming community and stunning countryside. 

Throughout his medical training, Dr. Erb gravitated toward pediatrics, finding fulfillment in the acute and often life-saving nature of pediatric cardiology. As an accomplished interventionist, he has spent years helping patients with congenital heart conditions, many of whom he has cared for since infancy. While he won’t be performing interventional procedures at Essentia Health, his extensive expertise allows him to guide patients in understanding their diagnoses and treatment options. 

Dr. Erb is passionate about building strong relationships with his patients and their families. He prioritizes clear communication, ensuring that everyone feels informed and comfortable with their care plans. Known for his warm demeanor and sense of humor, he often lightens the mood with his signature “Dad jokes.” 

Outside of work, Dr. Erb enjoys an active lifestyle, including kayaking, skiing, and hiking. Indoors, he finds joy in reading, playing chess, and solving puzzles. Though he is not married, he is a proud father of three grown children. In addition to English, Dr. Erb speaks some Spanish and German. He is excited to bring his expertise and compassionate care to the Essentia Health community.
