Catherine Schumacher, APRN, CNM, is a certified nurse midwife in Fargo at Essentia Health’s Birthing Center and Midwifery Clinic. She cares for people during pregnancy, birth, and routine gynecologic visits.
Her clinical interests include labor and birth care, women’s health, and support for rural communities and underserved patients. She values care that helps patients make informed choices and be active partners in their health.
Catherine’s approach is shaped by nearly 10 years of experience as a labor and delivery registered nurse. She has worked with both low-risk and high-risk pregnancies and birth. She uses the midwifery model of care, with a focus on shared decision-making, patient advocacy, and evidence-based practice. She aims to create a safe and inclusive space for every patient.
Catherine grew up in central Minnesota and has lived in Fargo for the past decade. She earned her Associate of Science in Nursing from Rasmussen University’s Moorhead/Fargo campus and her BSN from North Dakota State University. She also completed her MSN clinical rotation with Essentia Fargo’s midwifery team.
Outside of work, Catherine enjoys time outdoors, including hiking, camping, fishing, biking, and horseback riding. She also likes to travel and spend time with her husband, their two dogs, and family.
