Amy Larson, MD

Amy Larson, MD, is a dedicated internal medicine physician at Essentia Health, specializing in hospital medicine. She first fell in love with Duluth, MN, while completing her first two years of medical school at the University of Minnesota’s Duluth campus. The city’s charm and vibrant community inspired her and her husband, Wade, to plan their return after residency. Essentia Health stood out to her as the perfect place to practice, offering a challenging and diverse environment that aligned with her professional goals. 

Dr. Larson chose internal medicine because of its complexity and broad scope, which allows her to engage with a wide range of medical conditions. Within hospital medicine, she values the teamwork involved and the opportunity to build meaningful connections with patients and their families. She has a special interest in women’s health and preventative care, striving to help her patients lead healthier lives. 

Dr. Larson approaches her practice with the philosophy of treating every patient as she would her own family, with respect and kindness. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her husband, Wade, who also works at Essentia Health, and their Aussiedoodle, Murphy. Together, they love hiking, camping, and exploring local breweries. Dr. Larson also enjoys golfing, relaxing with coffee in her sunroom, and unwinding on the back patio with friends and family.
