Essentia Health Tobacco Cessation Project: Patient Outcomes

Objective

The purpose of this project was to evaluate Essentia Health’s (EH) Tobacco Cessation Program, implemented at primary care clinics throughout the EH system. It addressed 2 questions: 1.What was the outcome of referrals to a certified tobacco treatment specialist (CTTS) located in a primary care clinic and visits with a CTTS; how did outcomes vary by patient demographics, health status, and health care access? 2. What was the prevalence of tobacco use in the upper Midwest and variations by patient demographics, health status, and health care access?
