EAST Mental Health Screening and Referral: Evaluating Trauma Centers Protocols and Patient Outcomes

Objective

This study will look at differences in patient outcomes based on experience of current screening and intervention practices of trauma patients. The study would like to try to understand the effects of providing mental health services to patients who have experienced an injury and aims to understand how different experiences with mental health treatment, including not getting any at all, are related to mental health recovery after an injury.

The study will include an initial baseline survey and then a follow-up survey 6 months from when the initial survey was done. This study is hoping to help develop evidence-based recommendations that will have significant impact for trauma centers that need to develop policies and to help trauma patients with their mental health needs.
