Essentia Health-St. Joseph’s Medical Center welcomes psychiatrist Dr. Jon Bowar

Dr. Jon Bowar, a psychiatrist, is thrilled to join Essentia Health-St. Joseph’s Medical Center. 

“My family often vacations in the Brainerd Lakes area and loves it,” said Dr. Bowar. “I also like the idea of practicing in a more rural setting and serving the community in that way, so Essentia seemed like the perfect fit for me.”

Dr. Bowar earned his medical degree from the University of Wisconsin in Madison. He completed his psychiatry residency at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, and is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.   

“Seeing the disruption that mental illness causes in patients and the impact it has, not just on patients, but also on their families, it has always been very rewarding for me to be a part of the healing process and see people regain their lives,” said Dr. Bowar.
