Neurosurgery specialist Matthew Nierengarten joins Essentia Health-St. Mary’s Medical Center

Essentia Health-St. Mary's Medical Center is proud to welcome Matthew Nierengarten an advanced practice registered nurse and certified nurse practitioner specializing in neurosurgery. He has six years of experience working in various neurology and trauma departments at Essentia.

"I worked with the neurosurgical population quite frequently as a nurse, and I greatly enjoyed it," said Nierengarten. "I've also been a neurosurgical patient myself, and it felt like a natural fit. I can connect with my fellow providers due to my professional background and my patients due to my personal background."

Nierengarten received his education from the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth and is certified by the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses.
