Essentia Health announces major investment in downtown Moorhead

In partnership with the City of Moorhead, Essentia Health is excited to announce a transformative investment in the city's downtown revitalization efforts. Essentia is donating over $1 million to support The Loop, the future home of the Moorhead Public Library and Community Center, and enhancements to the River Corridor Trail, including the newly named Essentia Health River Walk.

"Essentia Health is thrilled to partner with the City of Moorhead and support a project that will improve the health, well-being and quality of life among people in this community," said Dr. Stefanie Gefroh, president of Essentia’s West Market. "At Essentia, our mission is to make a healthy difference in people's lives, and by collaborating with likeminded partners, we can advance that mission, positively impact even more people and deepen our roots in the places we call home."

Representatives from Essentia and the City shared the news at a joint event on Thursday which included a tour of The Loop where construction is underway.

This event marks a major milestone in the City's vision to create a more vibrant, connected and healthy community. Essentia’s contribution will sponsor the Walking Loop within The Loop and support improvements along the River Walk, both designed to promote year-round wellness, activity and community connection.

"Essentia Health's generous investment is more than a donation, it's a powerful statement about the kind of future we're building in Moorhead," said City of Moorhead Mayor Shelly Carlson. "With this support, we're creating spaces that promote wellness, connection and community, indoors and out.
