Essentia Health-Hayward Clinic welcomes cardiology specialist Dr. Christina Fanola

Dr. Christina Fanola, a cardiologist, is thrilled to join the Essentia Health-Hayward Clinic.

“I grew up in a very rural and small town, and now, as a physician, I understand how important and challenging it can be to provide good quality health care to remote areas in need,” said Dr. Fanola. “I was drawn to Essentia because they have an expertise and focus in rural health care. As I spent much of my free time over the past few years in Hayward and the North Shore of Minnesota, and I became a part of the local communities, I discovered my desire to help increase cardiology services to these areas.”

Dr. Fanola earned her medical degree from George Washington University in Washington D.C. She completed her internal medicine residency and her vascular medicine and cardiovascular medicine fellowships at Boston Medical Center in Massachusetts.

“I am dual fellowship trained in both general cardiology and vascular disease, with a specific expertise and interest in thoracic aortic aneurysms, high risk pulmonary embolism, critical care cardiology and sports & wilderness cardiology,” said Fanola. “I was drawn to my specialty because I discovered many critical consequences of cardiac disease, if discovered early enough and treated appropriately, could be prevented and patients' lives saved as a result.”
