Essentia Health holding annual tree walk and angel fundraiser for hospice
November 21, 2025 By: Caitlin Pallai

This holiday season, Essentia Health-Fosston invites the community to attend its 21st annual Tree Walk for Hospice from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 30. Open to all ages, this event will be held at Magelssen Elementary School at 700 First St. E. in Fosston.
The Tree Walk raises funds to provide specialized care to the patients and families served through hospice.
“This cherished event is more than just a fundraiser — it is a celebration of love, remembrance and the incredible support of our community,” said Shannon Nordine, home care and hospice manager at Essentia Health-Fosston. “Every dollar raised helps us provide the specialized, compassionate care that our hospice patients and their families deserve during life’s most tender moments.”
The Fosston-Lengby Lions Club will provide a free-will donation pancake and sausage breakfast from 10 a.m. to noon. A remembrance program with a candle-lighting ceremony follows at 12:15 p.m.
Attendees can stroll through beautifully decorated Christmas trees created by local businesses, organizations and individuals, and bid on their favorite tree through a silent auction. Holiday-themed crafts and a variety of refreshments, including hot chocolate and cider and Christmas treats, will also be available.
Angel tree ornaments – a beautiful crystal angel – will be available for purchase in honor or memory of a loved one. The suggested donation is $10 per ornament. Ornaments can also be mailed and will be available while supplies last.
"This event is made possible thanks to the support and generosity of our community,” added Nordine. “We are very thankful to continue providing this much-needed service to our community.”
If you would like to sponsor a tree in this year’s Tree Walk for Hospice, donate an item for the silent auction, purchase an ornament or have questions, please call (218) 435-7670 or visit the hospice office at 900 Hilligoss Blvd. SE. and speak with Nordine or Jody Heide.
Grief support available
The holidays can be difficult to navigate with the loss of a loved one. A holiday grief support group will meet from 2-3 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 16, in the education room at Essentia Health-Fosston. All are welcome.
