Essentia Health St. Joseph’s-Brainerd Clinic welcomes pulmonary and critical care specialist Dr. Melissa McClure

Dr. Melissa McClure, a pulmonary medicine and critical care specialist, is thrilled to join the Essentia Health St. Joseph’s-Brainerd Clinic.

“I chose to join Essentia because the mission and culture of the organization spoke to me,” said Dr. McClure. “Belonging to a health system that prioritizes high-quality, patient-centered care in our rural communities is very important to me and I’m excited to care for patients in the Brainerd Lakes region.”

Dr. McClure earned her medical degree from the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, where she also completed her internal medicine residency and pulmonary and critical care fellowship. She is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in pulmonary and critical care, as well as internal medicine. She completed her MBA at the University of Kansas.

“Working as an ICU nursing assistant during college, I fell in love with pulmonary and critical care,” said Dr. McClure. “I enjoy complex physiologic problems, working in a team and caring for patients and families during very significant life events, while being a calming presence that explains complex medical terms in an understandable way.”
