Essentia Health-St. Mary’s Medical Center receives designation for maternity care program

Essentia Health-St. Mary's Medical Center is proud to receive the Blue Cross Blue Shield Designation for Maternity Care Programming. This recognizes programs that are committed to exceptional care for baby deliveries. It is given to organizations that demonstrate better overall patient satisfaction and a lower percentage of early elective deliveries.

"This is an incredible testament to the high-quality, specialized care that our staff provide to the patients,” said Annika Olson, supervisor of the St. Mary’s birthplace. “At Essentia Health, we truly care about all of our patients throughout all phases of their maternity and pediatric journeys. Our teams have a strong dedication to provide the patient and their families with comprehensive and compassionate care. It is a joy to deliver the quality of care that we do to have a healthy mom and healthy baby.” 

To receive this designation, St. Mary’s was measured on nearly 40 metrics, including quality, patient outcomes, cost of care and education. 

“Our entire team works together to ensure that we can support patients throughout their pregnancy, delivery and postpartum care,” said Meghann Redden, operations manager of the OB/GYN department at St. Mary’s. “We also work to ensure they get the expert care needed during their child’s first years with our pediatrics and family medicine teams. This designation recognizes the unwavering dedication and collaboration of our teams in supporting patients as they navigate through both challenges and triumphs during their maternity care journey and beyond.”
