Essentia Health offers walk-in mammograms, women’s health event in Detroit Lakes

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Essentia Health will offer walk-in mammograms from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 10, at Essentia Health St. Mary's-Detroit Lakes, located at 1027 Washington Ave.

A mammogram is a low-dose X-ray of breast tissue. Routine screening mammograms can help your provider detect breast cancer before you have symptoms.

A women’s health event – VIPink – will follow from 5-7:30 p.m. at Bucks Mill Brewing, located at 824 Washington Ave., to mark Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

A raspberry seltzer, “Pink Warrior,” will be available, with proceeds going to the Essentia Health Foundation to support the breast health department. Local specialists will present on breast health beginning at 5:30 p.m. and a breast cancer honor walk will be held at 7.

Other activities include make-and-take floral arrangements and Battle of the Bras, in which you can vote for your favorite bra created by local businesses.
