Essentia Health-St. Mary’s Medical Center welcomes emergency medicine specialist Dr. Michael Barthman

Dr. Michael Barthman, an emergency medicine specialist, is thrilled to join Essentia Health-St. Mary's Medical Center.

"I chose to join Essentia because everyone I met during the interview process seemed truly happy with their job," said Dr. Barthman. "I'm intrigued by the ability to practice in both urban and rural settings."

Dr. Barthman earned his medical degree from the University of Wisconsin in Madison. He completed his emergency medicine residency at Rhode Island Hospital-Brown Alpert in Providence and is certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine.

"I have a passion for working with underserved populations, as well as patients with substance use disorders, behavioral and mental health needs and health humanities," said Dr. Barthman. "I try to make people feel seen and cared for, which I believe is the bedrock for providing good health care."
