Essentia Health is honored to be recognized as a "Clinical Training Site of Excellence" for pharmacy student education by the University of Minnesota's Office of Academic Clinical Affairs. Essentia received the award for our "exceptional support for University of Minnesota health sciences learners" and our longstanding partnership with the university.

The Essentia Institute of Rural Health (EIRH) supports and onboards these students — the future health care workforce — who then receive excellent real-world training from Essentia's pharmacy staff.

"Supporting the education and training of our future health care workers is essential for delivering expert patient care in our communities, now and into the future," said Kate Dean, executive director of the EIRH. "I am deeply appreciative of the many preceptors at Essentia who generously dedicate their time and expertise to mentor these students."

Health sciences leaders at the university were invited to nominate clinical partners for the award that they felt went "above and beyond" in their collaboration with students. Clinical Training Sites of Excellence were recognized for their excellence in the following areas:

  • A notable and longstanding commitment.
  • Stepping up to support students despite adverse conditions.
  • Supporting diversity.
  • Supporting our learners.
  • Excelling in interprofessional education.
