Getting vaccinated against the flu is one of the best — and easiest — ways to protect yourself and loved ones this respiratory virus season. That's especially true for children returning to school. Flu vaccines are recommended for people 6 months of age and older.

Every year, vaccination prevents avoidable illnesses, medical visits, hospitalizations and deaths.

Essentia Health offers a number of opportunities to get vaccinated, including walk-in flu shot clinics or during an already scheduled appointment. Patients also can schedule their vaccination at EssentiaHealth.org, via MyChart or by calling (844) 663-1068. Appointments also can be scheduled by calling your local Essentia Health pharmacy (walk-ins may be accommodated based on availability). Flu vaccines are covered by Medicare, Medicaid and most private insurers.

Remember to wear short sleeves for easy administration.

Please note that flu vaccines are available for ages 6 months and older at Essentia's clinic locations, and 6 years and older at Essentia's pharmacy locations (in Minnesota only).
