Essentia Health announces expansion for Cloquet clinic

Essentia Health is thrilled to announce it is doubling the size of its clinic in Cloquet. Since opening in 2022, the clinic has been widely used by the community and is quickly outgrowing its current space.

That’s why Essentia is breaking ground on an approximately 7,500-square-foot expansion this fall that will approximately double the size of the clinic, while adding a retail pharmacy with a drive-through and expanding parking.

"Essentia is committed to meeting the growing health care needs of the Cloquet community,” said Sam Barney, administrator for Essentia Health. “We will be expanding family medicine and specialty care. By doubling the size of our clinic, we’re filling vital gaps in care and ensuring greater access to high-quality, compassionate health care for the patients who entrust us with their health and well-being.”

The space will be used to add 16 exam rooms and greatly expand our family medicine and specialty services. With plans to hire additional providers and increase specialty outreach, this will improve access to expert care for this community that we are privileged to serve. Additionally, there will also be mobile mammograms offered at the clinic on a routine basis.

Plans are to break ground on the expansion this fall, with construction anticipated to take about one year. The clinic will remain open during this time.

Currently, the 7,500-square-foot clinic offers family medicine, urgent care, cardiology, women’s health, pediatrics, orthopedics, neurology, lab services, imaging and radiology.

The clinic, located at 1413 Hwy. 33 S., is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. The urgent care at the same address is open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.
