Essentia Health-Duluth Clinic welcomes gastroenterologist Dr. Annie Heermans

Dr. Annie Heermans, a gastroenterologist, is thrilled to join the Essentia Health-Duluth Clinic. 

“My husband (Dr. Jerrod Heermans) and I were looking for a change in our current practices and came across Essentia through friends we met during residency training,” said Dr. Heermans. “We both trained in the Midwest and really enjoyed our time in the region. I look forward to caring for patients in the Northland.”

Dr. Heermans earned her medical degree from the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks. She completed her internal medicine residency at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha and her gastroenterology fellowship at the University of Iowa in Iowa City. She is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine.

“I really enjoy the diversity and complexity of the patient population in gastroenterology in combination with getting to see patients in an outpatient and inpatient setting while also performing procedures,” said Dr. Heermans.
