Essentia Health offering walk-in mammograms in Detroit Lakes

Essentia Health will offer walk-in mammograms from 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 16, at Essentia Health St. Mary's-Detroit Lakes, located at 1027 Washington Ave.

A mammogram is a low-dose X-ray of breast tissue. Essentia Health offers 3-D mammograms using curved paddles for your comfort. Routine screening mammograms can help your provider detect breast cancer before you have symptoms. Knowing that early detection is crucial, Essentia recommends women of average risk get a mammogram screening every year beginning at age 40.

Most insurance plans cover screening mammograms annually and no deductible is required. Contact your insurance carrier for more information about your coverage.
