Essentia Health-Ashland Clinic welcomes family medicine specialist Dr. Joshua Bensen

Dr. Joshua Bensen, a family medicine specialist, is thrilled to join the Essentia Health-Ashland Clinic.

“I chose to join Essentia because I was drawn to the opportunity to practice broad spectrum family medicine, including hospital work,” said Dr. Bensen. “My decision was bolstered by the beauty and opportunities along Lake Superior’s Wisconsin shore.”

Dr. Bensen earned his medical degree from the University of Wisconsin in Madison. He completed his family medicine residency at Gunderson Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse, Wisconsin, and is certified by the American Board of Family Medicine.    

“I chose family medicine after being inspired by other small-town doctors who were community leaders and helped families navigate tough medical situations while making meaningful connections with all their patients,” said Dr. Bensen. “I love family medicine because I can prevent disease through teaching and motivational skills and targeting the earliest lifestyle factors and conditions.”
