A physiatrist, also known as a Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation doctor (PM&R), is a physician with specialized training in the diagnosis and treatment of conditions that affect a patient’s ability to move. These conditions may involve the brain, nerves, bones, joints, muscles, and tendons. Physiatrists use non-surgical treatments and work with surgeons when needed.
