Medication Management

Rely on an Essentia pharmacist to help you make sure your medications are working as best as they can for you. During a medication management consultation you will have uninterrupted one-on-one time with a pharmacist. These visits occur at Essentia Health primary care clinics and may be in-person or via video conference. A typical visit lasts 20 to 60 minutes. During your consultation, we will:

  • Review your current medications, including prescriptions, supplements, over-the-counter medications and vitamins
  • Ensure your medications are safe and effective
  • Discuss any medication-related problems, questions, or concerns
  • Provide recommendations on ways to save money on your prescriptions
  • Make an accurate, up-to-date list of your medications
  • Create a personalized medication dosing schedule

Many insurance plans, including Medicaid, offer benefits for these services. In most cases, there is little to no cost to you.

Questions to Ask Your Pharmacist

When you start a new medication, make sure you have complete, accurate information about it so you can avoid potential problems. When you pick up a new medication, ask your Essentia pharmacist:

  • What is this medication used for?
  • How much of this medicine should I take and when should I take it?
  • What should I do if I miss a dose?
  • Could this medication have any negative interactions with other drugs, certain foods, or alcohol?
  • How should I store this medication?
  • What are possible side effects of this medication?
  • What results should I expect to see, and when will I notice these improvements in my health?

Custom Medication Packaging

Ask your pharmacist about how custom packaging can help you get the right dose of the right medicine at the right time—especially if you take multiple prescriptions. With our easy-to-use pill-tracker blister packs, we can coordinate your medications so it’s easier for you to follow the routine your care team recommends.
