Specialists & Subspecialists

While all orthopedic specialists are trained in the treatment of elbows and shoulders, subspecialists have additional training specifically related to the diagnosis and treatment of elbow and shoulder conditions.

Nonsurgical Elbow & Shoulder Treatments

Rest assured, your Essentia orthopedics team will begin your care with nonsurgical orthopedic treatments. The majority of our patients find relief with these conservative options.

Advanced Surgical Options

If you and your doctor decide that surgery is the best treatment for your condition, benefit from our experience performing a wide range of advanced elbow and shoulder procedures. Whenever possible, we’ll use minimally invasive arthroscopic techniques, so you benefit from less pain, smaller scars, and a shorter recovery time.

Rotator Cuff Repair

Trust Essentia Health for expert surgical repair of a torn rotator cuff, so you can regain shoulder function and strength. Partner with your orthopedic surgeon to decide the best procedure for your individual needs and condition.

Reverse Total Shoulder Replacement

If you experience severe shoulder pain, a damaged rotator cuff, and/or difficulty lifting your arm, your orthopedic surgeon may recommend reverse total shoulder replacement. In this procedure, your surgeon “reverses” your shoulder’s ball-and-socket joint, fitting a new cup-like socket onto the end of your upper arm and placing the new ball on your old shoulder socket. That makes it possible for you to use different muscles to move your arm.

Coordinated Care

Depend on your Essentia Health orthopedic team to provide comprehensive, coordinated shoulder and elbow care from diagnosis through recovery. After surgery, work with your physical therapist to complete an individualized rehabilitation program that helps you achieve the best possible results.
