Family Health History

Objective

Funded by the National Human Genome Research Institute, the aims of this 4-year study are to 1) optimize the collection of patient-centered family health history information, 2) include reports in the electronic medical record, 3) assess the utility of this information to providers and patients, and 4) disseminate guidelines for family health history collection and use across diverse clinic settings.  Family Medicine patients at the Ely and Hermantown Clinics are invited to participate in the study.  Duke University is the Coordinating Center for this multi-center study that also includes Medical College of Wisconsin, University of North Texas Health Sciences Center and Travis Air Force Base.  The research team at Essentia includes Cathy McCarty, Joe Bianco, Irina Haller, Jeanette Palcher, Steve Westholm, Nathan Tesch and Matthew Hoplin.
