ATVs and Public Roads

Objective

This descriptive project seeks to explore the relationship between regulations allowing ATVs on public roads and ATV fatalities. Data on state laws regulating ATV use on public roads will be compiled and compared with state level data from the Fatality Analysis Reporting System (FARS) (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration).  States will be categorized into groups (those which have no/unclear laws, those which delegate authority to counties and municipalities, and those with laws in place which do not allow ATVs on public roads. Dr. Sharon Moran, Dr. Steve Eyer, Cathy McCarty, and Colleen Renier are Co-Investigators, and Theo Woehrle is the Project Coordinator on this project.
