Increasingly larger crews are working on Essentia Health’s Vision Northland project as construction accelerates both on the exterior and interior. The $900 million project, which is on schedule and about 30% complete, will build a state-of-the-art replacement for St. Mary’s Medical Center while providing thousands of good-paying jobs.
Essentia Health is expanding its vaccine efforts to increase accessibility. Essentia will follow Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers’ announcement earlier this week that everyone in the state aged 16 and older will be eligible for a COVID-19 vaccine starting Monday, April 5. Essentia now is vaccinating people 16 and older in Minnesota, Wisconsin and North Dakota.
Essentia Health is celebrating a major milestone in the fight against COVID-19. Today, Essentia will administer its 100,000th vaccine dose. “We have been presented with many numbers in the past year: cases, tests and, unfortunately, deaths from COVID-19,” said Essentia Health CEO David C. Herman, MD.
Essentia Health is now vaccinating all Minnesota residents over the age of 16. The public is invited to contact Essentia Health to receive a COVID-19 vaccination. First, appointments can be scheduled quickly and easily through MyChart, our online patient portal. Second, patients and community members can call Essentia at (833) 494-0836 to schedule their vaccination appointment.

Essentia Health is excited to start offering cardiology care in Moose Lake, allowing our heart and vascular patients throughout the region to be treated closer to home. This expansion means Essentia Health-Moose Lake will be able to provide primary and secondary cardiology services in the same community where so many of our patients live. Previously, our heart and vascular patients had to drive to Duluth to see a specialist. Now, they will be able to receive the same high-quality care without traveling.
Following guidelines from the North Dakota Department of Health, Essentia Health is reminding people in phase 1C that there are plenty of vaccine appointments available. This group includes essential workers and people of any age who are at an elevated risk for COVID-19. With an increase in vaccine supply, appointments are readily available as more people are eligible to receive the shot.
The simple fact is colonoscopies save lives. Colorectal cancer survivor, Aaron Lund, wishes he could shout this fact from a mountain top. Lund, a nurse at Essentia Health, noticed some abdominal discomfort and blood in his stool when he decided to check in with his primary care provider. A colonoscopy was ordered. For Lund, cancer hadn’t even crossed his mind. He was active, in good health and young – only 33 years old at the time. Plus, he didn’t fit into the high-risk categories. Even with all of this on his side, Lund was shocked when he was diagnosed with stage III colon cancer.
