Home > A New Standard of Care
COVID-19 has changed the way we provide care and the way you seek care. As states are now allowing elective procedures, surgeries, and other important face-to-face care, we're poised to provide the care you need - safely.
We're taking a smart, phased approach to ramp up services, while increasing safety measures.
Learn how we're making care safe for our patients, caregivers, and staff Get answers to frequently asked questions about appointments and procedures
Your well-being depends on getting the care you need. We have many options to provide care in the safest way possible.
We launched virtual video visits to serve our patients during stay at home orders. Now, it's a pillar of essential care going forward.
We're able to address a variety of health issues through video chat. If you need to come in to complete your care, you'll only be billed for an in-person visit.

Your health and safety and the safety of our caregivers and staff is our top priority. We've improved our existing safety measures and implemented new ones to make our clinics and hospitals as safe as possible.
We’ve introduced virtual visit technology, allowing you to now schedule a video appointment with your provider, right where you are. Virtual visits are available for nearly all clinic appointment types in most specialty areas.
We are requiring everyone – staff, patients and visitors – to continuously wear a mask while in our clinics.
We are screening all employees, patients and visitors at clinic entrances for virus symptoms.
We follow rigorous hand hygiene to prevent the spread of infection.
We have redesigned common areas to ensure appropriate social distancing.
We clean each exam room after each visit with our standard disinfection products that are active against COVID-19 and other infectious diseases. We are also rigorously cleaning, disinfecting and sanitizing waiting areas and common areas.
We have expanded COVID-19 testing capabilities for patients who are scheduled for a treatment or procedure to ensure it is safe to continue with their appointment.
We have immunization clinics at our locations that have designated entrances, rooms, or appointment times specifically for well-person immunizations. Meaning you or your children will NOT be seen alongside patients getting care for illness.
For your safety, Essentia Health will continue to suggest a convenient Virtual Video Visit for any care that can safely be offered in that manner. If your concern would best be addressed in-person, we are offering that option and are doing all we can to ensure your visit will be safe.
We currently offer mammography and many other health screenings, and we are continuously modifying our open services to care for our patients while keeping our community safe. Contact your physician’s office if you have specific questions about services available and a care plan that’s right for you.
Your health and safety is our first priority, and we are now performing many surgeries, procedures, and other diagnostic tests across all specialties, including ear, nose & throat (ENT), orthopedics, ophthalmology, urology, general surgery, plastic surgery and oral surgery. However, we continue to evaluate our services and our offerings may vary depending on the COVID-19 pandemic.
If you had a surgery that was cancelled, your doctor’s office will reach out to you to discuss next steps. Your care team will work with you to determine what is best for your unique health situation. Many locations will be serving people with urgent surgical needs before opening to other elective surgeries.
Call your doctor’s office or message through MyChart and your health care team will be happy to talk with you about the care plan that is right for you.
