Meet the residency director and coordinator of the Essentia Health-Fargo Pharmacy Practice Residency Program and get to know our current residents.
Residency Program Director, Essentia Health Pharmacy Services
Email Bernie Behm.
Bernie Behm received her Doctor of Pharmacy (2004) from North Dakota State University. After graduation, she completed a PGY-1 pharmacy residency at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center in Appleton, Wisconsin. She worked as an inpatient pharmacist at CHI-St.Alexius in Bismarck for 5 years before moving to Fargo in 2010. She began working at Essentia Health-Fargo in 2011 as a clinical pharmacist.
Her primary practice is intensive care and general medicine. She serves as preceptor for the residents in orientation and critical care.

Carly Wehner received her Doctor of Pharmacy (2015) from North Dakota State University. After graduation, she completed her PGY-1 pharmacy residency at Sanford Medical Center Fargo. Upon completing her residency in 2016, she accepted a position as a staff clinical pharmacist at Essentia Health – Fargo.
Her primary practice is in general medicine and critical care. She serves as preceptor for the residents in education/precepting and general medicine.

Email Christian Sorensen.
Christian grew up in Monticello, MN and finished high school there in 2014. His passion for medicine stems from a combination of a love for science and the respect for multiple health care professionals he encountered in the past. Christian graduated with his PharmD from North Dakota State's College of Health Professions the Spring of 2020. He is very excited to start his next journey with Essentia Health as a PGY-1 Pharmacy Resident for the 2020-2021 year and is looking forward to all the challenges that comes with it. Christian's future goals include obtaining a full-time position as a clinical pharmacist specializing in critical care medicine and expanding his knowledge as much as possible in order to provide the best possible care for patients. Other hobbies Christian enjoys in his free time include drawing, working out, and playing Dungeons and Dragons with his friends on the weekends.
Email McKenzie Hill.
McKenzie grew up in Minot, ND and graduated from Minot High School in 2012. She attended North Dakota State University where she received her PharmD and BS in Psychology. Her pharmacy interests include psychiatry, neurology, and infectious disease, but she is interested in every aspect of clinical pharmacy! McKenzie is most excited to learn more about what her interests are as a pharmacist and gain all the knowledge her preceptors have to offer. In her free time, she enjoys spending time outside, doing yoga, working on cars, and hanging out with her husband and two dogs, Mya and Lucy!
