Meet the residency director and coordinator of the Essentia Health-St. Joseph's Medical Center Pharmacy Practice Residency Program and get to know our current residents.
Residency Program Director, Essentia Health Pharmacy Services
Email Eric Gangl.
Eric Gangl received his Doctor of Pharmacy (2002) from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities. After graduation, he practiced as a clinical pharmacist for 3 years at St. Luke's Hospital in Duluth, Minnesota, and became their clinical coordinator in 2004. In 2005 he moved to Brainerd, Minnesota, where he has continued practicing at Essentia Health St. Joseph's Medical Center as a clinical pharmacist. He was in that role for 10 years before becoming Clinical Lead in 2015 and Clinical Manager/Residency Program Director in 2018.
His primary practice is in intensive care, cardiology, and emergency medicine. He serves as preceptor for the residents in critical care.
Eric grew up in Nashwauk, Minnesota. In his free time he enjoys hockey, golfing, fishing, and coaching/watching his kid's sports activities.

Email LeeAnna Pederson.
LeeAnna Pederson received her Doctor of Pharmacy (2015) from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities. After graduation, she completed her PGY-1 acute care residency at Essentia Health St. Joseph's Medical Center and continued working as a clinical pharmacist, establishing an emergency medicine pharmacist position. She then became the residency program coordinator in 2018.
Her primary practice is in emergency medicine, intensive care, and general medicine. She serves as preceptor for the residents in orientation and behavioral medicine.
LeeAnna grew up in Plymouth, Minnesota. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, cross country skiing, reading, and spending time with friends, family, and her two dogs.

Email Kayla Kurtzweg.
Kayla Kurtzweg is originally from Hutchinson, MN, and graduated with her PharmD degree from South Dakota State University in 2018. Her professional interests include cardiology, general medicine, palliative care, and precepting students.
In her spare time, Kayla enjoys spending time with family and friends, playing card and board games, and traveling. She also enjoys quilting, crocheting, and completing other crafts.

Karlie Manton graduated with her PharmD from North Dakota State University College of Pharmacy in 2018. She is originally from Brainerd, Minnesota, and her professional interests include critical care, emergency medicine, and ambulatory care.
In her free time, she enjoys being outdoors with her dog and spending time with her family and friends on the lakes.
