Research Project Qualifications

The Essentia Institute of Rural Health (EIRH), the education and research arm of Essentia, works with academic partners to provide students with meaningful research and Quality Improvement Project opportunities. To be eligible to conduct a student research project with EIRH, you must:

  • Attend an academic institution that has a Learning Experience Agreement with Essentia Health
  • Have completed a clinical placement or internship for your academic program at Essentia Health
  • Submit proof of research project requirement for your academic program
  • Identify an Essentia Health principle investigator for research or an Essentia Health leader to sponsor a quality improvement project

The EIRH director of education reviews all student projects that meet the requirements and facilitates project review with the Essentia human research protection program manager.

Academic Partners

EIRH collaborates with colleges and universities to develop curriculum and clinical experiences to prepare medical and health science students to join the health care workforce. Some of Essentia Health’s partners are:
