Health Care and Homelessness: Respite House Evaluation
Objective
The purpose of the Respite House Evaluation Project is to improve health outcomes of individuals who are homeless by creating an evaluation plan. Since 2016, the Health Care and Homelessness Committee (HCHC) has overseen the creation of an outreach primary care clinic at Churches United in Ministry (CHUM) and the Bob Tavani House, the medical respite program which began in 2018. Medical respite aims to provide a temporary home to people discharged from the hospital into homelessness, in order to allow them more time to recover and facilitate connections with community resources.
