The aim of this prospective observational study is to examine complication rates in urgent/emergent cholecystectomies, and evaluate whether the Parkland Grading Scale (PGS) is accurate in predicting these complications. Essentia Health-St. Mary’s Medical Center Acute Care Surgeons will grade gallbladders using the PGS to identify the severity of the cholecystectomies, and complete a post-operative questionnaire regarding the difficulty of the surgery. Independent raters will use the PGS to grade these gallbladders after surgery from images. Patient data will be compared to determine whether the PGS is accurate at predicting outcomes and complications for urgent/emergent cholecystectomy.
