Aortic Occlusion for Resuscitation in Trauma and Acute Care Surgery (AORTA): A prospective observational study of the Endovascular Skills in Trauma and Resuscitative Surgery Working Group

Objective

This multisite prospective observational study is exploring the utilization of aortic occlusion (both open and endovascular techniques) in acute resuscitation of trauma and acute care surgery patients in shock. The study aims to shape practice patterns and identify independent predictors of successful aortic occlusion. 

The Lead Principal Investigator is Dr. Joseph J. DuBose, University of Maryland Medical Center. Dr. Kristin Colling is the Site Principal Investigator. Linda Vogel, RN, Jennifer Hoff, RN, Melissa Harry, PhD, and Dr. Steven Eyer are Site Co-Investigators.
