CME Activity Planning

Please contact the CME Office early in your planning process if you'd like to apply for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit TM (CME) credit for your activity. Accreditation requirements include:

  • Primary educational content should be applicable to the learning of a physician audience
  • Activities should address a professional practice gap and be designed to change
    competence, performance and/or patient outcomes
  • A physician identified as a lead will need to assist in planning content for the activity
  • The activity will be in the future; CME credit cannot be awarded to an event that has already
  • All required documents will need to be completed and approved prior to the activity

Activity Checklist

Once your activity has been approved for AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM an education associate will work with you to complete the following:

Prior to your event:

  • AMA PRA Category 1 Credit TM Application – This form will need to be completed with the activity coordinator, physician lead and Education Associate
  • Disclosure Form – Everyone involved in planning and presenting content will need to complete a CME Disclosure Form
  • Content review – An education associate will review education content; examples include: outlines, PowerPoints, journal articles, healthcare data, etc.
  • Activity flier – An education associate will create a flier with required language and activity details for the coordinator to distribute to the target audience
  • Attendance roster – An education associate will provide you with an attendance roster, anyone to receive credit must sign-in
  • Evaluation – The CME Office is required to evaluate all programs periodically; evaluation options will be discussed

Following your event:

  • Return the attendance roster to your education associate within 3 business days
  • Submit final educational content, final PowerPoints, etc.
  • Your education associate will follow-up with evaluation based on activity needs
