As you plan your visit to Essentia Health facilities in Downtown Duluth, please allow more time for traffic and parking.

Parking and navigating Essentia Health’s medical campus in downtown Duluth can be challenging while streets are closed for construction related to the Vision Northland project.

Parking Ramps

The city-owned ramp across from the Duluth Clinic’s First Street building is open with skywalk access to Essentia Health’s medical campus.

Essentia Health has two parking ramps open to patients and visitors on its downtown Duluth medical campus. The Green ramp is most convenient for Duluth Clinic-Third Street, Duluth Clinic-Second Street and Essentia Health-Duluth (Miller Dwan). The Red ramp is most convenient for Essentia Health-St. Mary’s Medical Center.

Additional Street Closures:

  • Through the fall of 2023: East First Street between Fourth Avenue East to Seventh Avenue East will be closed. Access to the main entrance of the Duluth Clinic's-First Street Building is restricted. Patients are asked to park in the city’s ramp on First Street and use the skywalk on the second level that offers safe passage through the Vision Northland construction site.
  • Through the fall of 2023: Fourth Avenue East, from Superior Street to East Second Street will be closed. This street is closed due to Vision Northland construction.

For appointments at Duluth Clinic’s First Street Building

Park in the city’s Medical District ramp at the corner of East First Street and Fourth Avenue East. Use the skywalk on the second level to safely pass through the construction site and enter the First Street clinic.

Entry: Enter the Medical District ramp from East First Street.

Use your map app for directions: You can type “300-398 E 1st Garage, Duluth” into an online map to get directions from your location. Hourly parking rates: up to 3 hours cost $2; up to 5 hours cost $4; up to 8 hours cost $6; up to 12 hours cost $8; 12-24 hours cost $10

Payment options: Automated pay station on second level, near skywalk, takes cash, credit card or debit card. Gates require a credit or debit card to pay.

For appointments at Duluth Clinic’s Second Street Building or Third Street Building

Park in our Green Ramp. This ramp is adjacent to the Duluth Clinic’s Third Street Building and connected by skywalks to the Second Street Building and First Street Building. It also has a skywalk to Essentia Health-St. Mary’s Medical Center and Essentia Health-Duluth.

Hourly parking rates: The first two hours are free; 2-3 hours cost $1; 3-4 hours, $2; 4-5 hours, $3; 5-6 hours, $4; 6-7 hours, $5. The maximum rate for a day or lost ticket is $7. Parking is free for patients with validation

Payment options: Automated gates require a credit or debit card to pay. No cash is accepted.

For appointments at Essentia Health-Duluth

Park in our Green Ramp. This ramp is adjacent to the Duluth Clinic’s Third Street Building and connected by skywalks to the Second Street Building and First Street Building. It also has a skywalk to Essentia Health-St. Mary’s Medical Center and Essentia Health-Duluth.

Hourly parking rates: The first two hours are free; 2-3 hours cost $1; 3-4 hours, $2; 4-5 hours, $3; 5-6 hours, $4; 6-7 hours, $5. The maximum rate for a day or lost ticket is $7. Parking is free for patients with validation

Park in our Red Ramp. The ramp at the corner of East Fourth Street and Fourth Avenue East is connected to the hospital by a skywalk.
