This BLS Certification Course is designed to teach healthcare professionals how to save the life of a victim in cardiac arrest by performing high-quality cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) individually or as part of a team. During the course, BLS students will learn and describe all of the steps of the Chain of Survival and apply the BLS concepts of the Chain of Survival. Students will demonstrate rescue techniques for adults, children, and infants as well as the use of an AED.
OBJECTIVES
Immediately after American Heart Association (AHA) 2021 Guidelines CPR Training and for up to 2 years after, a rescuer should be able to:
- Evaluate unresponsiveness (or other emergency situations where resuscitation is appropriate).
- Access 911 in a timely fashion (or other emergency phone number, example, in a hospital).
- Demonstrate ventilations (breathing) that make the chest rise, using mouth-to-mouth or mouth-to-barrier device.
- Explain care for conscious and unconscious victims with foreign body airway obstruction.
- Demonstrate chest compressions that generate a palpable pulse.
- Demonstrate proficiency in bag-mask ventilation for victims of all ages.
- Demonstrate proficiency in the use of AEDs.
Cancellations must be received two weeks prior to class. The full course fee will be retained for "no shows".

You must complete the HeartCode BLS elearning prior to attending this course. The link to purchase the elearning is
shopcpr.heart.org/heartcode-BLS. This is a requirement to attend the BLS skills session.
Minimum of 4 students with a maximum of 6.
