This series of 3 evening Childbirth Preparation classes is designed to help prepare you for the delivery of your baby. It is ideal to start taking this class when you are between 28 and 32 weeks pregnant, but may be taken at any point in your pregnancy.
Registration reserves space for mother and her partner.
Topics covered include:
- The process of birth
- Positioning and relaxation techniques for labor
- Role of support person during labor
- Discussion of various choices for mother during birth
- Interventions (Induction, pain medication options, Cesarean birth)
- Adjusting to parenthood
- Care of newborn
- How to initiate breastfeeding within one hour of birth (Sacred Hour and Skin-to-Skin)
- The Benefits of Breastfeeding
- Latching infant
- Birthing Center Tour
A Friday evening and Saturday day, option for childbirth education. Childbirth class is designed to help prepare you for the delivery of your baby. It is ideal to start taking this class when you are 28 to 32 weeks pregnant, but may take it at any point in your pregnancy.

Birthing Center Tour
This class will be held in-person, at Essentia Health Detroit Lakes Hospital, and remote via teams. This is a two part class, being held Friday evening from 6:30-9:00 and Saturday 9:00-3:00. You will get an email one week prior to the first day of your class with instructions for both options.
