Downtown Duluth, MN Parking

Parking will be a challenge during Vision Northland construction, but Essentia Health plans to offer new valet parking on our downtown Duluth medical campus to serve patients.

As you plan your visit, please check on current street closures near our campus. Portions of Fourth Avenue East, East First Street, and Superior Street are closed or closing.

Parking Ramps

The Green and Red parking ramps offer space for patients and visitors with two hours of free parking.

For appointments at any Duluth Clinic building

Park in our Green Ramp. This ramp is adjacent to the Duluth Clinic’s Third Street Building and connected by skywalks to the Second Street Building and First Street Building. It also has a skywalk to Essentia Health-St. Mary’s Medical Center and Essentia Health-Duluth.

Hourly parking rates: The first two hours are free; 2-3 hours cost $1; 3-4 hours, $2; 4-5 hours, $3; 5-6 hours, $4; 6-7 hours, $5. The maximum rate for a day or lost ticket is $7.

Payment options: Automated gates require a credit or debit card to pay. No cash is accepted.

For appointments and visits to Essentia Health-St. Mary’s Medical Center or the Heart & Vascular Center

Park in our Red Ramp. The ramp at the corner of East Fourth Street and Fourth Avenue East is connected to the hospital by a skywalk.

City of Duluth Ramp

The city-owned ramp across from the Duluth Clinic’s First Street Building remains open but its skywalk will close Sept. 9, 2019. Pedestrians can use a construction crosswalk along First Street. Two other options are parking in the Green Ramp or using our new valet parking service at the entrance to the Duluth Clinic’s Second Street Building at 502 E. Second St.

Free Valet Parking

To better serve patients and their families, free valet parking will be available beginning Sept. 9, 2019, at the entrance to the Duluth Clinic’s Second Street Building at 502 E. Second St.

This option is available to patients who have appointments in any building on our downtown campus. Our guest services staff can help you get to your appointment.

Valets will park your vehicle in a nearby lot and bring it back to you at the pickup area near where you dropped it off.

Hours: 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday

Street Closures

  • July 2019 to the fall of 2022: Fourth Avenue East, from Superior Street to service alley below East First Street.
  • Sept. 9, 2019 to fall of 2022: East First Street, from Fourth Avenue East to Seventh Ave East. Access to the main entrance of the Duluth Clinic's First Street Building is restricted. Patients are asked to use the Duluth Clinic’s Second Street Building entrance and then use the skywalk to reach the First Street Building. Patients who are undergoing cancer treatments, having colonoscopies or other procedures as well as those with special needs can be dropped off and picked up in the First Street Building's lower level.
  • September 2019 to fall of 2022: Fourth Avenue East, from Superior Street to East Second Street. This street is closed due to Vision Northland construction.
