Essentia Health-St. Mary’s Medical Center welcomes first baby of 2022

Just before 7 a.m. this morning, Essentia Health-St. Mary’s Medical Center in Duluth welcomed its first baby of the new year.

Bodhin Quast entered the world at 6:56 a.m. Bodhin — “Bodhi” for short — weighed 6 pounds, 15 ounces and measured 20 inches long. He is the child of Dyami Quast and Stephanie Madson of Duluth.

The baby’s name means “awakened, enlightened one” and “with supreme knowledge” in Sanskrit.

Nearly 1,500 births occurred at St. Mary’s Medical Center in 2021.
