Open house for Adult Partial Hospitalization Program at Essentia Health in Superior

After moving into a renovated space in November, the Adult Partial Hospitalization Program at Essentia Health St. Mary’s Hospital-Superior is hosting a community open house at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 15.

The holistic program, which officially opened in June, offers outpatient group therapy in a safe and therapeutic environment for adults with significant mental health concerns. It operates for six hours every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday for three weeks. Attendance is required at every session.

The experienced and professional Essentia Health team includes psychiatrists, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, psychotherapists, activity therapists, occupational therapists, social workers, chaplains and more. The program focuses on stabilizing current mental health concerns, as well as skill-building, with offerings such as:

  • Psychotherapy
  • Occupational therapy
  • Activity therapy
  • Medication monitoring
  • Spiritual support
  • Patient and family education and support
  • Coping skills training

Other components include nutrition education, physical activity and art therapy.

The program’s launch brought five additional practitioners to the Superior hospital, critical in a region — Douglas County — where mental health services are in short supply.

Both provider and self-referrals are accepted. Participants are evaluated by staff before being admitted. For more information on the Superior program, call (715) 817-7188.
