Essentia Health’s Dr. Jane Rudd named “Notable Hero in Health Care”

Essentia Health’s Dr. Jane Rudd has been named a Notable Hero in Health Care in a new series from the publication Twin Cities Business.

A note about the series says that the selected Heroes in Health Care “are doctors, nurses, directors, CEOs, diversity officers, and medical advisors, among others. They represent large hospital systems, private practices, insurance and pharmacy care companies, and more. They serve on the front lines and behind the scenes, fighting COVID-19 and working to keep Minnesotans as healthy as possible.”

Dr. Rudd was among 47 Heroes in Health Care. She is a family medicine physician at the Essentia Health-West Duluth Clinic who was integral in the roll-out of Essentia’s telemedicine platform, which was fast-tracked by the COVID-19 pandemic last spring. Dr. Rudd expertly brought together primary care doctors, specialists and IT experts as Essentia began to conduct more than 3,000 virtual visits per day across the communities it serves in Minnesota, North Dakota and Wisconsin.

This platform helped Essentia, which was at the forefront of the push to popularize telemedicine in response to COVID, receive the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota Trailblazer Award.

Dr. Rudd is the primary care division chair at Essentia Health.

Others from Essentia recognized for leadership

Also earning recognition recently were Essentia Health CEO Dr. David C. Herman and chief medical officers Dr. Peter Henry and Dr. Anne Stephen.

Drs. Herman, Henry and Stephen were included among the state’s 100 most influential health care leaders, which was compiled by the medical business journal Minnesota Physician. According to the publication, these 100 leaders “help make health care in Minnesota a global model of excellence.” The list is presented every four years.
