Published on October 14, 2020
The Minnesota Nurses Association has informed Essentia Health-St. Joseph’s Medical Center of its intent to conduct an informational picket from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 19.
The informational picket will occur just outside the hospital. Please note, however, that this is not a strike. Essentia Health-St. Joseph’s Medical Center is open as usual and ready to provide the high-quality and compassionate care our patients have come to expect from us. Measures are in place to ensure that our patients, their families, hospital staff and others will have access to our facilities during the picketing.
Essentia Health-St. Joseph’s Medical Center and MNA nurses are negotiating a labor agreement after their previous contract expired October 31, 2019. Fourteen negotiating sessions have taken place since September 2019. Conversations were paused due to COVID-19 but have resumed. Our next session is scheduled for October 21, 2020. Essentia will continue to negotiate in good faith and we look forward to reaching a mutually beneficial agreement.
These nurses are valued members of our care teams and we respect their right to conduct informational picketing as part of a labor union.
