Essentia Health Offers Ways Brainerd Lakes Community Can Help

Essentia Health is grateful to the community outpouring of support to healthcare during this pandemic. Here are a few ways community members can provide support:

Participate in a Red Cross Blood Drive.
Essentia Health is hosting a blood drive on Wednesday April 1 from 9:30 a.m. – 3:30 a.m. at the Essentia Health Sports Center. Call Deb Anderson to reserve at time slot at 218-828-7610.

Donate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Essentia Health currently has adequate supplies of PPE, but will graciously accept donations for any future needs. While the most pressing needs are medical-grade N95 masks, other useful items include:

  • Unopened medical-grade personal protective equipment — masks, gowns, eye protection and gloves
  • Face shields
  • Handmade masks

Donations are accepted at Essentia Health – St. Joseph’s Medical Center on Monday - Friday from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Please pull up to the front door; donors are asked to remain in their vehicles and wait for site staff to collect the donations. Our staff will organize donations and make sure items are distributed to the appropriate people.

“We appreciate our friends and neighbors graciously offering donations and support to help our staff and patients,” said Deb Anderson from Essentia Health – St. Joseph’s Medical Center Volunteer Services. “We are humbled by your generosity and caring.”

Financial Donations
A fund has been established through St. Joseph’s Foundation for any future needs related to COVID-19. The COVID-19 Response Fund will:

  • Support our patients and families through compassionate care funds
  • Provide funding for our healthcare staff’s morale and well-being
  • Respond quickly to the needs for any emergency preparedness efforts
