Water safety day activity Saturday, July 13

It’s summer and it’s simple – life jackets save lives. Drowning consistently ranks among the top causes of accidental death for children, according to the Minnesota Department of Health.

That's why Essentia Health has teamed up with the Grand Rapids Farmers Market for Water Safety Day – a free event from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, July 13, at the farmers market, 11 Golf Course Road in Grand Rapids.

Parents can get a free life jacket in children’s or youth sizes. Come learn about water safety and how to correctly wear a life jacket. Essentia experts also will be on hand to properly fit the life jackets.

Whether your child is swimming, boating or just playing in the water, life jackets can prevent injuries and fatalities in our “Land of 10,000 Lakes.” Make sure your family is protected.
