With an eye on a May 2020 opening, Essentia Health will break ground on its Cloquet Clinic at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 22.

Announced last summer, the new centrally located clinic will reside on the site of the former Driftwood Motel in Cloquet, along Minnesota Hwy 33. It will encompass 10,000 square feet and feature primary care service, as well as urgent care, physical therapy, lab and radiology services and future specialty outreach care.

For Essentia’s many patients residing in the Cloquet area, this will allow them to receive high-quality care close to home, reducing travel time and other inconveniences. They also will continue to benefit from our specialists in Duluth, when necessary, and be connected to the new state-of-the-art hospital that will rise at the conclusion of our Vision Northland construction project.

“Our expansion in Cloquet is a valuable opportunity to improve the health and quality of life for our friends and neighbors here and in the surrounding communities,” said Dr. Jon Pryor, president of Essentia’s operations in northeastern Minnesota and northwestern Wisconsin.

The new clinic’s patient-first design ensures coordinated care in a beautiful setting that facilitates improved health.
“We look forward to supporting our patients on their journey to better health,” said Tamm Kritzer, Essentia’s senior vice president of operations.
Members of the media are invited to attend Friday’s groundbreaking.
